Bangladesh’s garment exports to the UK rose 10.53% year-on-year in August, helping lift earnings from the market by 3.74% during the first two months of FY2026-27 to $915.63 million.
Bangladesh’s garment exports to the United Kingdom increased 10.53% year-on-year in August, recovering from a 2.44% decline recorded in July, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
The August rebound helped Bangladesh record 3.74% growth in garment export earnings from the UK during the first two months of the 2026-27 fiscal year.
Bangladesh exported garments worth $915.63 million to the UK during July-August, compared with $882.62 million in the same period a year earlier. The increase amounted to $33.01 million.
The average monthly garment export earnings from the UK stood at $457.82 million during the first two months of FY2026-27. This compares with an average of $365.71 million per month during the previous fiscal year.
The UK accounted for a significant share of Bangladesh’s garment export earnings in the previous fiscal year as well. Bangladesh earned $4.39 billion from garment exports to the UK during FY2025-26.
With $915.63 million earned during July-August of the current fiscal year, Bangladesh has already generated 20.86% of the previous fiscal year’s total garment export earnings from the UK.
The latest figures come after a decline in July, when garment exports to the UK fell 2.44% year-on-year. The subsequent August recovery has helped keep Bangladesh’s garment export earnings to the market in positive territory at the beginning of FY2026-27.
The UK continues to be one of Bangladesh’s major destinations for ready-made garment exports, making the performance of the market an important contributor to the country’s overall apparel export earnings.
